The short version

That is how the site pays for its research. If you find a page useful and you were going to use one of the services anyway, using our link is a way to support the work at no cost to yourself.

What we earn commissions on

We participate in, or plan to participate in, affiliate programs across the categories we cover, including:

• Money transfer and multi-currency banking (for example, services like Wise).
• International and expat health insurance (for example, services like SafetyWing and Cigna Global).
• Genealogy and document services relevant to citizenship claims.
• Other tools relevant to moving abroad, such as VPNs and relocation services.

Not every link on the site is an affiliate link, and not every partner listed here is active at any given time. Where a specific page includes affiliate links, that page makes it clear.

How this does not change what we tell you

Our recommendations are editorial. We compare options on their facts, fees, and fit for a specific reader, and a company cannot buy a better verdict, a higher spot in a comparison table, or a recommendation it has not earned. When the best option for you is not one we earn anything from, we still tell you it is the best option. When a popular affiliate product is a poor fit, we say that.
